Nature-based solutions that offer novel mechanisms to fight disease and extend life

OUR MISSION

At Oxcitas our mission is to unravel the biological mechanisms surrounding the remarkable anticancer abilities and extended lifespan of long-lived mole rats, including the blind subterranean mole rat or Spalax. By elucidating these mechanisms that evolution has created in Spalax, we are working to translate our findings into therapeutic interventions which tackle cancer and other diseases of ageing.

 AGEING AND DISEASE

Biological age is a central risk for multiple diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders. Consequently, understanding and targeting the changes that occur with age that are responsible for these elevated risks offers novel solutions in the fight against age-related pathologies.
